HOTEL MAC’s Restaurant & Bar
Point Richmond, CA
Andy Mirabell of Restaurant Realty successfully leased Point Richmond’s Historic Hotel Mac’s Restaurant & Bar. Steve Zimmerman originally sold the same very restaurant back in 2013!

The quint community of Point Richmond is nestled just between the Richmond San Rafael Bridge and the Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline. It is a tightknit community that truly supports their local businesses and causes. The historic Hotel Mac has always been the anchor business in the town center. This Hotel Mac was built in 1911 and is steeped in lore. It was originally called the Colonial Hotel and was purchased in the 1930s by former manager of the Claremont Hotel, M.V. McAfee, who changed the name to Hotel Mac.
“The Mac” as it is warmly referred to by locals, includes a glorious restaurant space, lounge, bar, wine caller and banquet room. It has long been recognized for its exceptional dining and a vibrant cocktail bar. Sadly, the previous restaurant fell victim to the Pandemic and had to shut the doors. Since then, there is not a day that goes by that locals knock on the door or peer through the window to see of anything new is on the horizon within.
After months of searching for an appropriate tenant Andy Mirabell, of Restaurant Realty Company, approached one of his favorite local restauranters about this opportunity. Blanca Zepedalomeli and her husband Juvenal Magna are young ambitious operators who recently opened the acclaimed Mi Casa Grill in Richmond proper. This acclaimed, authentic, Mexican restaurant was opened in 2021 to rave reviews, after they took over and remodeled a building on San Pablo Avenue, in which Andy helped them lease. They serve up fresh, authentic, traditional dishes and crafted cocktails. Previously they have operated all aspects of the most popular and successful Berkeley and East Bay concepts. Andy thought it may be too soon for them to take on another project of this scale within ‘The Mac’. However, To Andy’s surprise they visited for a tour, and were taken with the historic space and thus their creative juices started flowing.
The landlord was also impressed by their demeanor and vision and thus a lease was created. The Hotel Mac restaurant and bar will have new life in late 2023 when they plan to open. They will bring their vision of elegance and charm that the space deserves, while maintaining the historic elements of existing architecture. Their concept Biancoverde will feature dishes that embrace their heritage with an Italian twist. They bar program will feature classic and unique options, and often have entertainment options in the lounge to add to the ambiance.
The Hotel Mac will live on and have new life!
Andy Mirabell, our RRC agent represented both parties in this transaction. We wish everyone much continued success!
