In 1988, Larry and Wendy Nieh opened the China House in Twain Harte, Tuolumne County. Larry had extensive experience working with his father's restaurant in Marin County before deciding to open the restaurant in Twain Harte. Wendy also had been in the restaurant business for a number of years; working with her parents in Walnut Creek and then in Sonora!
In the twenty years serving Tuolumne County residents, the China House grew from a single location to three locations in the county. Wendy and Larry decided to scale back to one restaurant, concentrating on the Twain Harte location. The China House serves authentic Mandarin cuisine in a comfortable family setting. They use only the freshest ingredients and will try to accommodate any special request for your healthy diet including; gluten-free, vegetarian, low sodium, and MSG free meals. If you have any special requests just ask. Plus, at China House, you will get generous portions at reasonable prices.
