Meet our latest RESTAURATEUR OF THE QUARTER: Meet Gianni Chiloiro, Co-Owner of Doppio Zero (5 units), Nardo and Vida Tapas Restaurants
Steve Zimmerman recently sold Ortra Vex Restaurant in San Carlos to Gianni Chilorio, the Co-Proprietor of the Doppio Zero Restaurant Group.
Gianni grew up in Italy with his mom and five sisters and cooking was a major part of their lives. Gianni became interested in the food and the entertainment business at early age and he attended a local hotel school and worked throughout his teenage years in the restaurant business. He arrived in San Francisco when he was 20 and after working a few years in some well-known restaurants he started his own restaurant in 1991. To date Gianni has opened 20 restaurants and currently he owns 7 units which include as follows: Nardo (nardoitalian.com) in Huntington Beach, Vida Tapos (vidatapssmv.com) in Mountain View and 5 Bay Area Doppio Zero (dzpizzeria.com) locations -Mountain View, San Francisco, Concord, San Carlos and Campbell.
Gianni’s philosophy is that in order to have a successful restaurant you must have a strong location, pleasant ambience, quality food at reasonable prices, great service and understand the financial side of the business.
Gianni states that the most expensive part of the restaurant is an empty chair and although Gianni is a young 60 he continues to have the drive to satisfy more customers and open up new restaurants.
