John Sangmeister is an entrepreneur and passionate sailor. He owns and operates four restaurants under the Gladstone’s and Pieology brands. He previously served as director of restaurant development at Panda Restaurant Group, responsible for surfacing new sites and negotiating lease terms for more than 60 locations in seven western states. For seven years, John served on the Downtown Long Beach Associates Board of Directors, the final two as Chairman. Before that, John was an investment representative with Alex. Brown & Sons where he developed and delivered several investment banking clients that raised over $150 million in capital. John served as Select Director appointed by U.S. Sailing President Cory Sertl to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors. John was instrumental in bringing the 2028 Olympic Sailing venue to Long Beach, California. In 2012, John was named to the America’s Cup Organizing Committee by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom to serve on the San Francisco America’s Cup Organizing Committee.
