Renzo and Crystal Azzarello of Luna Blu

lunablu1Renzo and Crystal Azzarello came to Tiburon on their honeymoon earlier this year and stumbled upon a vacant restaurant space, Restaurant Realty was marketing, while on a romantic walk down Main Street, Tiburon. In December the couple opened Luna Blu at 35 Main Street, Tiburon. Crystal, who hails from Oxford, England and her husband, who grew up in a seaside resort town on Sicily, Taormina say they are offering “Sicilian seafood with an English accent.”

Renzo is began his chef training at a young age. Learning how to cook as a child in his family’s bed and breakfast kitchen. He moved into the restaurant business after various interesting work experiences including an army lieutenant, a professional water polo player, a lifeguard coach and safe beach inspector across Italy. He has worked in, managed and owned several restaurants in the bay, mainly in SF. His visa was originally sponsored by Francis Ford Coppola whose restaurant he ran. Renzo knows that the only way to create great food, is to have with the right ingredients. Passion, fresh natural sustainable produce, a happy team who are eager to learn and foodie people who enjoy great food!

Crystal (38) is a renaissance kind of woman, having experience in vastly different fields of work. Ex automotive design engineer (Land Rover, Mini, BMW), education behavioral therapist, women’s refuge project worker, suicidal helpline listening volunteer, fight attendant with Virgin Atlantic, personal trainer and nutritional consultant, holistic healer and massage therapist. But most of all passionate about making the most of every moment. “I am committed to Renzo’s passion of providing good, healthy food and we are working on partnering our business with the Seafood Watch conservation group.” (Monterey Bay Aquarium.)
