BROADWAY MARKET
Sonoma / Sonoma County
Broadway Market is more than a general store alongside a state highway; it is arguably the single most unifying symbol of home for many generations of Sonoman’s raised on Broadway Market sandwiches and friendly smiles.

In 1947 Gust and Rose Karabochos developed a 2.5 acre site at 20511 Broadway, Sonoma, in the heart of the wine country, that included a service station and an auto garage. The Mission-style store building also housed Polar Bear Meats, frozen food lockers, a barbershop and a soda fountain. In 1974, Ron Rodgers and Dianne Gaudino who are cousins took over the sleepy market at this site. Ron grew up in Napa working in the grocery business and always wanted a store of his own. He bought the existing grocery store with Dianne which had only 1 employee and refashioned it as Broadway Market in 1974. Today, there are 32 employees, many of them long term employees; and one employee, store manager Alfred Robles, who recently passed away began working at the market in 1977.
The market been a family owned and operated grocery for 74 years. They have won 3 years in a row for the best deli sandwich in the valley. They specialize in Harris Ranch Beef, fresh ground beef daily, wines from Sonoma Valley and local spirits. They carry items such as Basque Boulangerie French Bread, award winning Vella Cheese, Sonoma Gourmet pasta sauce and Sonoma Springs crafter beer.

Broadway Market has established itself as a generous member of the community. The market is renowned for its support of community groups, local schools, service clubs and nonprofit organizations as well as supplying food to the Schell Vista Fire Department for 30 years, sometimes feeding more than 200 fire fighters battling blazes.
The Buyers are Local Sonoma Investors, Inc who are a group of experienced entrepreneurs that operate other convenience stores, gas stations, restaurants, home improvement stores and agriculture farms. The plan to continue to operate the store the same way Ron and Dianne have and retain the employees and continue to provide the high level of service and quality as the former owners have.
Steve Zimmerman, the Principal Broker of Restaurant Realty, had the pleasure of representing both Ron and Dianne, the Sellers, and Local Sonoma Investors, Inc, the Buyers. Steve and Restaurant Realty wish Ron and Dianne much enjoyment in their well-deserved retirement and wish the Buyers much continued success in continuing the Broadway Market tradition of providing a price value operation serving quality food and excellent service.
