Since purchasing this 14,374 sq ft, The Armory, Bourbon Barrel & Event Center located in Sonora in 2017, Tracie and Doug Kennedy set to work to completely renovate at a cost exceeding $1.5 million.
Sonora is the closest city to Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Foothills in Northern California and was initially settled by miners from Sonora, Mexico, in 1848 and became one of the largest and wealthiest towns in the Mother Lode country. Tourism, lumbering and agriculture provide the income today. Handsome Victorian houses are a legacy of the town’s gold rush days. The Downtown is alive with unique boutiques & galleries, fabulous restaurants & trendy drinking establishments, and fun-filled events & festivals.
Since purchasing this 14,374 sq ft, The Armory, Bourbon Barrel & Event Center located in Sonora in 2017, Tracie and Doug Kennedy set to work to completely renovate at a cost exceeding $1.5 million.
For a brief period, they successfully opened “The Bourbon Barrel” bar as a small part of the build out, but due to Doug’s other business successes they moved to Florida.
The building and business were marketed for sale in 2019 with a Sacramento Broker for one year unsuccessfully. Then they listed again in 2020 with another local broker for another unsuccessfully.
3rd Time’s a Charm!
In June 2021, Tracie and Doug contacted Restaurant Realty. Keith Simpson marketed for sale and through expansive marketing and the many restaurant contacts, found local experienced Buyers by December of the same year.
This complex $3 million transaction, including the Real Estate, Business and a valuable Tuolumne County ABC Type 47 hard liquor license, successfully closed Escrow on March 4th 2022.
The Buyers – Hoteliers Jenn & Doug Edwards, with their hotel & restaurant management experience, along with Rebecca & Jordan Barrows, their management & chef partners from Oregon, will be equipping the inside and expect a grand opening this April 2022.
The expansive areas includes a bar/restaurant seating 60, a private dining room for 25, a Banquet & Wedding Center for 175, and an outside patio bar for 100 with a mezzanine above seating another 60. The kitchen is state of the art, brand new and never yet used and large enough to accommodate all these Catering areas.
